Why you should come to our Yorkshire photography workshop

There is a good reason they call Yorkshire “Gods country”. The rolling green hills of the Dales and hidden glens, help give the Yorkshire Dales some of the most stunning landscapes in the UK.

Our Yorkshire Dales photography workshop is dedicated to the art of landscape photography. Not only will you experience amazing locations at the best time of the day, but you will get the guidance to improve your photography.

There will be many different landscape scenarios, lighting situations, and certainly different weather conditions. All this will provide the various challenges that landscape photography throws at you. You will be guided through each scenario with expert help, advice, and encouragement.

You will learn about settings, composition, filters, long exposures and so much more. There will be amazing shoots, stunning scenery, and maybe even time for a couple of bitters after hard days shooting.

Private tours

We have always believed that small groups are best for travelling. Not only are they safer to run and manage. But they are also much more sustainable and responsible. This is even more important for a photography course where learning is key.

For this reason we run all our UK workshops as private tours. This means workshops can be tailored to exactly what you want to achieve. Whether it’s a night photography tour or landscape photography, imagine how much you could learn in a few days with a private instructor to guide you!

*Private tours are open to groups should you already be two or more people looking to attend the workshop.

You may have only recently decided to take up photography and find it all overwhelming. Or you may have some knowledge but struggle to capture the sort of photos that you dream of. Or you could be a serious amateur with years of experience but want to take your photography to the next level.

Whatever level you are at, come and visit Yorkshire with us and we’ll help you achieve your photography goals. If you are unsure if you would benefit from this workshop or wish to know more, feel free to email us at info@thatwildidea.co.uk

Yorkshire Dales Landscape Photography Workshop Tentative Itinerary

Day 1 – Bolton Abbey => River Wharfe => Malham

After arriving at the hotel in York we will have a brief meet-and-greet before we jump right into some landscape photography. We will start out at the beautiful Bolton Abbey. After the abbey, we will hike up the river Wharfe to capture this magical glen with its powerful waterfalls and rock pools. We then make the short drive north to the Malham cove and one of the largest waterfalls in the Dales. We round off the day photographing the sunset on Malham’s unique limestone pavement

Day 2 – Ingleborough Tor => Ribblehead Viaduct => Lizard (B)

It’s a packed second day as we start with a sunrise shoot at the unique Ingleborough tor. This remote valley is dotted with wild trees rising from the rugged limestone and is surrounded by the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. Naturally, it also makes for some fantastic compositions. After lunch, we will head to the beautiful village of Wensleydale to photograph this picturesque village at sunset over the rolling hills of the Dales.

Day 3 – Swaledale => Scaleber Force Waterfall => End of Tour (B)

Our final day starts with a sunrise shoot in one of the north most Dales to photograph the barns of upper Swaledale. After the morning in Swaledale, we head back south the shoot the awe-inspiring Scaleber Force Waterfall before heading back to Bolton Abbey to conclude our workshop. Here we will have a final discussion and review some images. After which we will say our goodbyes go our separate ways.
