Why you should come to our Dorset landscape photography workshops?

Dorset is as historic as it is beautiful and one of the best photography locations in the UK. A rugged and unique coast where dinosaurs once roamed shrouded in mystery and beauty alike. This coastline really is a landscape photographers dream with its beautiful light and endless views.

This is a workshop dedicated to the art of landscape photography. Not only will you experience amazing locations at the best time of the day, but you will get the guidance to improve your photography.

There will be many different landscape scenarios, lighting situations, and certainly different weather conditions. All this will provide the various challenges that landscape photography throws at you.

You will be guided through each scenario with expert help, advice, and encouragement. You will learn about settings, composition, filters, long exposures and so much more. There will be amazing shoots and stunning scenery.

Private tours

We have always believed that small groups are best for travelling. Not only are they safer to run and manage. But they are also much more sustainable and responsible. This is even more important for a photography course where learning is key.

For this reason we run all our UK workshops as private tours. This means workshops can be tailored to exactly what you want to achieve. Whether it’s a night photography tour or landscape photography, imagine how much you could learn in a few days with a private instructor to guide you!

*Private tours are open to groups should you already be two or more people looking to attend the workshop.

Whatever level you are at, we can help

You may have only recently decided to take up photography and find it all overwhelming. Or you may have some knowledge but struggle to capture the sort of photos that you dream of. Or you could be a serious amateur with years of experience but want to take your photography to the next level.

Whatever level you are at, we can help you achieve your photography goals. If you are unsure if you would benefit from this workshop or wish to know more, feel free to email us. Our email address is info@thatwildidea.co.uk

Jurassic Coast Landscape Photography Workshop Tentative Itinerary

Day 1 – Weymouth – Harbour, lighthouse & Pulpit rock

Our Jurassic Coast photography workshop starts in the beautiful harbour town of Weymouth. After arriving at the hotel you will have a meet-and-greet and a brief discussion with your tutor before getting stuck in. We will explore the unique harbour and its colourful buildings before heading to the peninsula to shoot Portland Bill lighthouse and the famous Pulpit rock at sunset.

Day 2 – Kimmeridge Bay => Abandoned village of Tyneham => Lulworth => Durdle Door (B)

It’s a packed second day as we start with a sunrise shoot at the fossil lined coast of Kimmeridge Bay. The rest of the day will be spent exploring the abandoned village of Tyneham and the picturesque village of Lulworth before making the short drive to the world-famous Durdle Door for sunset.

Day 3 – Corfe Castle => Old Harry’s Rocks => End of Tour (B)

Our final day starts with a sunrise shoot at the iconic Corfe castle. In the morning mist, this castle quite possibly photographs better than any other in the UK. Once the sun is up we will explore Corfe town before moving on to Old Harry’s rocks. We will return to Weymouth where will have a final discussion and image review after which we will say our goodbyes go our separate ways.
