Join us for this 1 day workshop for an introduction to travel photography. Based out in the field our expert professionals will guide you through various elements of travel photography. There will be various tasks and exercises that are designed to challenge you. There will be discussions and plenty of opportunities to get one-on-one help and tips on anything you struggle with. By the end of the day, you will have a better understanding of travel photography and your camera.

What you will learn on our Intro to Travel Photography workshop?

This course is designed to help anyone wishing to learn or improve their travel photography. This workshop is ideal for anyone who is a complete beginner and wants to learn how to use their camera. But even if already have some knowledge of photography, this workshop will help you push your existing knowledge further. Some of the topics that we will cover on a typical day are:

– Camera kit essentials for travelling lightly and safely

– The exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed, ISO)

– How to photograph different scenarios such as markets, people, landscapes and more

– Which camera settings to use

– Advice on composition techniques

– How to set up your equipment for long exposure shots

– Scouting locations – what to look for to capture stunning photos

– Adapting to changing conditions

– Using natural or available light

– Tips and advice on backing up and image storage

Equipment Needed

Please bring along your DSLR, mirrorless or compact camera as well as any lenses, filters or tripods you may have. Your tutor will be on hand with a selection of equipment so you can witness them first hand.

What’s Included/Not Included

Included: You will be provided with a one-day travel card for any use of public transport on the day. Your tour leader will provide these at the meet-up point in the morning.

Not included: We will stop for breaks and lunch however no meals or drinks are provided on this workshop. The cost of getting to and from the meeting point for the workshop is not included in the cost.

NOTE: There must be a minimum of 3 people registered for the workshop. Do not book any accommodation or transport until we inform you that we have reached the minimum number of people.

Your workshop leader on this Intro to Travel Photography Workshop is Jordan Banks. Jordan is a travel, landscape and adventure photographer from London with over 20 years experience shooting assignments and hi-end content for travel, tourism, lifestyle brands and companies. Through the years his work has taken him to over 100 countries and provided him with the opportunity to shoot some of the world’s most interesting and diverse locations and festivals. The group size for this photo tour is a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 guests.
This workshop is ideal for complete beginners, amateur or enthusiast photographers.
This is a very easy workshop but will involve a fair bit of walking in London. This tour is NOT recommended for people with mobility issues.
You don't need expensive or professional equipment for this photo tour. We would recommend DSLR or mirrorless cameras and a tripod for this tour. Compact or smartphone cameras will also be suitable.
This workshop will involve walking and the use of some public transportation such as buses and the Underground. The reason for this is that it is usually the quickest and easiest way to travel around London.
