Our Cornish adventure will start in Newquay but before long we will be heading to our first shoot location. The amazing Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps is a landscape photographers dream. Along the journey there will be vast beaches and bays, lighthouses sitting alone in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and friendly locals. We will photograph beautiful seaside towns like St. Ives and small fishing villages. We travel to the “end of the land” and lose ourselves in the stunning vistas of the Lizard peninsula.

Why you should come on our Cornwall photography workshop

Cornwall is as historic as it is beautiful. This is where the chiseled coast is constantly battered by the wild seas of the Atlantic ocean. A land where old abandoned mines still dominate the landscape. So what better place to practice and learn landscape photography than Cornwall.

This is a workshop dedicated to the art of landscape photography. Not only will you experience amazing locations at the best time of the day, but you will get the guidance to improve your photography. There will be many different landscape scenarios, lighting situations, and certainly different weather conditions. All this will provide the various challenges that landscape photography throws at you. You will be guided through each scenario with expert help, advice, and encouragement. You will learn about settings, composition, filters, long exposures and so much more. There will be amazing shoots, stunning scenery, and a good few Cornish pasties.

Cornwall Landscape Photography Workshop Itinerary

Day 1 – Newquay => Carnewas & Bedruthan Steps (D)

Our Cornwall landscape photography workshop starts in Newquay. After arriving at the hotel we will have a meet-and-greet before enjoying a leisurely early dinner. We will discuss everyone’s photography experience, preferences, and goals. After dinner we will make the short drive to the stunning Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. This will be the location for our sunset shoot.

Day 2 – Carnewas => Godrevy => St. Ives (B, L, D)

Providing the conditions are right, we will drive to Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps for sunrise. This will give us a different look across the striking Cornish coast. After breakfast we drive to the vast Godrevy coast. We will spend a few hours photographing its famous lighthouse, vast beaches, surfers, and craggy coastline. This provides a great opportunity to learn how to take long-exposure photos in the daytime using filters. After a picnic lunch we drive to the beautiful seaside town of St. Ives. There will be time to freshen up at the hotel before enjoying a sumptuous dinner. Our sunset shoot will be at St. Ives bay where the colourful boats provide great point-of-interest subjects.

Day 3 – St. Ives => Porthcurno => Land’s End (B, L, D)

An early morning shoot at St. Ives will be followed by breakfast. Then it will be time to head to the amazing Minack Theatre in Porthcurno. This open-air theatre sits on a cliff offering amazing views of the coastline. After exploring the theatre there will be some time dedicated to reviewing images at the hotel. We will also cover various elements of landscape photography like composition and settings. After dinner we will drive to Land’s End to capture this stunning coastal region at sunset.

Day 4 – Land’s End (B, L, D)

Due to its position, Land’s End provides the perfect location for landscape photography. This is because you can almost photograph this area for the whole day. We will rise early and head out for sunrise photos. We will also spend a bit of time covering one of the most important topics for landscape photography – scouting locations. Your challenge will be to find a wonderful spot for a sunset photo with the help of your tutor. There will be time to relax in the afternoon before dinner and our sunset shoot.

Day 5 – Land’s End => Lizard (B, L, D)

This morning we will have an optional sunrise shoot. After a leisurely breakfast and some time covering other topics on landscape photography, we drive to the Lizard peninsula. This is one of the most photogenic areas in the UK. There are tons of photo opportunities covering everything from dizzying high cliff views to golden beaches. There are infamous coves that were once the hideouts of pirates, and coastal fishing villages. Our sunset location will offer a stunning view of Kynance Cove.

Day 6 – Lizard => Falmouth => Newquay (B, L)

There will be another opportunity to photograph this beautiful peninsula at sunrise. After breakfast we will review images and have time for any questions. We will then drive back to Newquay stopping en route for our farewell lunch in Falmouth. Once we arrive in Newquay in the afternoon we will say our goodbyes and go our separate ways.
